This article gives an overview of how moving landline numbers to a new provider may interrupt your Prokeep service and how to minimize the impact on your texting capabilities.
Before you make any changes to your landline number or switch phone companies/providers, here’s what you need to know to ensure a smooth transition without disrupting your Prokeep services:
1. Connect with Prokeep Support First
Before making any decisions, get in touch with our Support team. You can reach us at support@prokeep.com, or call or text us at 504-226-7756.
We're available Monday-Friday from 9am to 5pm Eastern.
Some providers may not support texting capabilities for landline phone numbers, potentially affecting your texting functionality. Here are some carriers we are not compatible with:
-
- Rogers Unison
- Verizon 1 Talk
- Microsoft Teams (unless using Microsoft Teams Direct Routing Service)
2. Discuss Transition Timing
Once our Prokeep Support team gives the green light for your new provider, please inform us of the timing of your transition. Changing providers might temporarily disable texting, but with advance notice, we can quickly re-enable texting to your landline number after the transition is complete to minimize service interruptions.
-
- Please schedule transition ports during normal support hours to expedite the process.
- Please provide us with at least 24 hours notice of the port date and time.
- Once the completion of the porting process with the new provider has been confirmed, we will proceed with re-provisioning the line(s). Note: Re-provisioning of lines can take 24-72 business hours to be completed.
3. Submit a Properly Completed Letter of Authorization (LOA)
These transitions require a fully completed, signed, and current (within the last 30 days) LOA before proceeding with the porting process. Ensure the LOA includes:
-
- Contact First Name
- Contact Last Name
- Contact Email
- Business Name
- Contact Phone Number
- Full Address Information
- Number(s) & Carrier Name(s)
- If more than 5 numbers are being ported, please put numbers & carrier names on an Excel sheet & submit it along with the LOA
- Authorized Signature, Print Name, and Date
Completing the LOA accurately helps prevent delays in the process. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact our Support team. We’re here to help make your transition as smooth as possible!
